Ao Nang - Travel Guide

Ao Nang is the Krabi Beach! It is the most popular and tourist populated destination in all of Krabi.

Ao Nang Beach was once a sleepy muslim fishing village. Now Ao Nang is a booming and growing resort area.

The Ao Nang trade-off for convenience is authenticity and prices. Ao Nang dining and eating is expensive. If you are looking for a more 'real' Thai experience, you may like to consider Ton Sai or Krabi Town. However, if the prime concern of your holiday is comfort, relaxation and full choice of room and food options, then you can do no better than Ao Nang beach.

Ao Nang concentrated on and around a beachfront road. You'll find many flavours of tourist shops, ATM machines, international cuisine restaurants, cafes, Burger King, and 7-11.

Because of this beachfront road
There are NO Ao Nang accommodations directly on the beach
( except Centra Grand Beach and Krabi Beach Resort)

Leading into Ao Nang Beach is the main road with hotels and resorts for 3km. The Beachfront road hooks around a cliff near the Krabi Resort and the beach changes it's name to Noppharathara beach.

Noppharathara Beach is much more shallow than Ao Nang beach, so the swimming is poor. The goverment has spent big money to improve this beachfront and now is nearly unsepartable from Ao Nang area. The Resorts on Noppharathara beach offer a slight costs savings. And you can easily reach Ao Nang by foot, motor cycle, or tuk-tuk. Noppharat Thara Beach is part of a national park. But the only wild life on Noppharat Thara Beach are the disco tech and the Muay Thai stadium.

Ao Nang Beach is on the opposite end of Noppharathara Beach.  Located towards the cliffs of Railay Beach.  There is a small section of beach off limits to resort, motorcyles, and longtail boats.  This is where you swim and sun it up.  It is a short walk from the beach frontage road.  And you can contine walking over a small cliff to Pai Plong Beach

Pai Plong Beach is a small private cove completely owned by a Centra deluxe resort.  You may visit Pai Plong even if you are not a Centra guest.
